Darryl A. Peal

Darryl A. Peal is the Executive Director of the University of Minnesota's Office for Business & Community Economic Development and Technology Empowerment Center. 

BCED is a social enterprise whose purpose is to leverage the assets and resources of the University to create programs and services that provide innovative solutions to real-world social-economic problems that impact urban communities.

More importantly, BCED is a critical component of the University’s public service and outreach mission and its role is to create economic and community development strategies that drive the University’s Urban Agenda. BCED facilitates collaborations between the University and nonprofit, corporate and public sector partners that focus on enhancing the human condition of underserved populations.

The mission of the Office for Business & Community Economic Development (BCED) is to contribute to the economic growth, development and prosperity of Minnesota’s urban communities.

Previously, he served as President & CEO of the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council. The council has over 200 Corporate Members and more than 800 certified MBEs. The Council has offices in Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Every year, OMSDC's Corporate Members spend over $5.5 billion with MBEs certified by the Council. These minority businesses sustain over 17,400 employees, and 40% (7,220) of the people employed by MBEs are minority.

He has also served as Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services Equal Opportunity Division/State EEO Coordinator; Director of Minority Affairs at Ohio Wesleyan University; Assistant Vice-President of Diversity Initiatives for the United Way of Central Ohio; and Assistant Dean of Students at Otterbein College. Additionally, he served as the Dean of Students and served as a Member of the President’s Cabinet at Central State University located in Wilberforce, Ohio. Darryl is also an entrepreneur and is the owner of Randall-Peal & Associates, an educational consulting company.
